Married Bliss....

Today marks my seventh month anniversary of married bliss.  I cannot believe how fast the time has gone.   It seems like just the other day we were coming home from our honeymoon and trying to get all the wedding gifts organized in our home.  Our lives have changed so much since we were married.  Everything has fallen in place so nicely.  We both have successful jobs, a great house, fantastic families...what more could you ask for!?!  We are truly blessed.  I cannot wait to spend our first Christmas together.  We will be making our own Christmas feast and celebrating Christmas in our home for the first time.  It is so exciting to be "grown up" and have our own traditions to start.  My husband is so excited about exchanging gifts...he can barely stand to wait till Saturday.  So stay posted to find out how everything turns out.  In case I do not blog again before Christmas, I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Thanksgiving at the Walker's

I know it has been a few weeks since Thanksgiving but I still had to share our first Thanksgiving asd husband and wife.  We decided to stay home for our very first Thanksgiving and make our own feast.  It was so much fun!  I LOVED it!  We fixed all of our holiday favorites like cornbread stuffing, mac n' cheese, sweet potato casserole, fried corn, green beans, and of course some turkey.  I would say the best part of getting our meal ready was watching Matt try to pull the insides out of the turkey.  It was hilarious!  He was practically gagging doing it.  Overall, we stuffed our faces and relaxed on the couch.

We left Thanksgiving night to surprise my parents.  They thought we were not coming home until Friday afternoon.  So we arrived at the farm right after dinner and all of the family was standing around in the kitchen cleaning and talking.  We walked in the door and I said "knock knock anyone home?"  and a unison of "AWWWWWWWWWWWWW" went throughout the kitchen.  It was absolutely fantastic.  It just doesn't truly seems like the holidays until you are with family.  It it the best part!  We are so thankful for all of the wonderful family that are a part of our lives.  We couldn't ask for more!

Never say never...

Well, I spoke too soon!  Over the weekend my hubby and I went on a little shopping trip to Cool Springs.  It was so nice just to relax and get some early Christmas shopping done.  I was not feeling so hot when I woke up that morning but I had a sinus funk going on so I didn't pay to much attention to it.  Well by the time we sat down for dinner, at J. Alexander's mind you, I had a severely painful sore throat and chills like crazy.  Once we got home, I immediately got into my pj's and snuggled down in my bed.  My hubby came up and took my temperature and well it was 102.  I knew I didn't feel good but I took some medicine and just went to sleep.  I woke up every hour with a rush of heat or chills all down my back.  When 8:00 o'clock rolled around, I decided it was time to get up and go to the doctor.  My hubby drove us there and while we were waiting I kept telling him "I know they are going to give me a strep test but I never have strep...I hate that test!"  Well sure enough we get in the room and they give me both the strep and flu tests. (Both are VERY unpleasant, BTW.)  The nurse left the room and I told my husband "I probably have the stinkin' flu.  I know I don't have strep because I have never had that.  My brothers used to pass it back and forth when we were younger and I never got it."  Needless to say, I spoke too soon.  The doctor came in and said "well it is clear as day, you have strep throat."  I could not believe it!  So now I am slowly recovering and have had the past two days off to recuperate.  Tomorrow may be difficult but hey at least it will only be a three day week for me!  :)

Disappearing act???

No, I am still here.  Ever since school has started it seems so hard for me to get on here any more.  I barely have time to do the things I do whether it is at school or home.  We have been busy, lazy, busy, lazy...well you get the picture.  We have done several things since my last blog.

Our niece turned two in September, we got to go to her birthday party.  It was too cute!  She had a blast of course.  She is such a character and has the cutest faces ever.  Here is one of my fave photos I caught of her on that day.

Our October has been super busy.  My parents have season tickets to the Vols games.  Even though we are NOT fans of UT, we did appreciate getting to watch our team BAMA play them.  We had a fantastic time with my parents.  It was so nice to spend time with them.  We have been so freaking busy with everything that it was almost like being home when we were with them.  We miss being able to go home more often!  Hopefully we can find that happy medium somewhere.  Here are a few pics from the UT game:

We also celebrated Halloween this past month.  It was our first Halloween as a married couple.  So we bought some pumpkins and had our own little pumpkin carving party.  It was quite amusing because neither my husband nor I like having dirty hands.  And well you cannot carve a pumpkin and maintain clean hands.  So we were both grossed out a time or two.  However, our pumpkins turned out very cute.  I loved them!

Now we are in the month of November and it feels like Thanksgiving is just around the corner.  I am very excited about Thanksgiving because I all by myself, will be making a Thanksgiving feast for my hubby and I.  Not going to lie, I am a little nervous about it but then again I cannot wait!  I had a great teacher (thanks, mom!) so it should be a piece of cake...lol!  Or at least I hope.

I cannot believe how fast the time has gone by.  In just a couple of weeks, my husband and I will be married for 6 months!  It just sounds insane to say that.  It feels like it was just last week that we were getting married and leaving for our honeymoon.  It has been a fantastic six months and I cannot wait for the many more to follow.  Maybe next time, I won't take so long to blog!

Farmer's Market

I don't know about you but I can always handle some fresh veggies!  Matt and I have talked about going to our local farmer's market here in Murfreesboro but it has the oddest hours.  They are only open on Tuesday and Friday from 8-12.  Pretty much if you have a job...you can't go.  :(  Well, this past week Matt's boss told us about the Saturday Market around the square.  It is the same as the farmer's market except it is set-up on the square from 8-12 every Saturday from now until the end of September.  When he came home to tell me about I told him we just had to go this Saturday.

So, we woke up and got to the market around ten and there were so many tents set up of produce (fruits and veggies), baked goods (pies, cakes, cookies, breads), and greenery (flowers, small shrubs, hanging baskets.)  There was so much there it was hard to know where to start.  We walked around and took a look at all of the booths before we just bought the first thing we saw.  We got to the back side of the square and there were really no booths back there but we think it was because it was later and they had sold out of their items.  When we walked around the corner there was a small booth set up with home made jerky and pork rinds.  Needless to say we had to stop there to buy a few goodies!  After that we bought some fresh veggies and got some really good deals on it all too!

I just wanted to share in case anyone else was like me and loves some fresh fruits/veggies.  Remember it is every Saturday until the end of September around the Murfreesboro Square from 8-12.

Two WHOLE Months!

Well we have been married two whole months now.  Yesterday was our monthly "anniversary."  It is crazy to think that we have been married already for two months.  We took some pictures before we went out to "celebrate" our anniversary.   My hubby even bought me some roses for the special occasion...I know sweet huh?!?!

It seems like just last week we got home from our Honeymoon and started organizing this thing we like to call home.  We have done so much this past two months.  We have painted rooms, organized room after room, bought furniture, put furniture together, gathered junk, etc.  On top of all of this home organizing and fixing, my hubby and I have also been decorating a classroom.  No, my hubby does not teach or anything.  He has just helped me SEVERAL times to get my room ready for my new kiddos.  It has definitely been a crazy past two months but it has been so much fun.  And I wouldn't want to do it with anyone else...thank goodness I married my soul mate!

Can you believe he took this...lol!  I sure can't!

Goodbye Summer, Hello Teacher!

Well I technically still have a week and a half left of summer.  However, I will be in trainings every day this week and next week.  The worst part of it all is that it starts EARLY in the morning and goes throughout most of the day.  I am very excited about it though because this week's training is all for "new" teachers.  So there are many ideas about how to get organized, classroom management, classroom decor, etc.

Throughout the training, our key note speaker is Rick Morris and he has some FANTASTIC ideas to use in the classroom.  I cannot wait to try them out and see how my kids will respond to them all.  I am going to do my best to incorporate as much as I can into my classroom.  However, I know how the real world works and I might not be able to do all I would like to do.  My goal, possible or not, is to incorporate as much as I can.

Even though I am saying goodbye to my summer, I am very lucky and fortunate to say hello to being a teacher.  It has taken me about a year to get hired on full time and I am SUPER thankful for this job.  I cannot wait to get in there and get started!
And I will leave you with this quote from today that really seemed to speak out to me...

“Even on your worst day at work you are still some child’s best hope.”

Much Love,

FINALLY...They're here!

I could not be happier to FINALLY have our wedding pictures!  We received them in the mail yesterday and after looking at 630 images for 35 minutes, we were more than pleased at how they turned out!  It is going to be such a task trying to choose which ones I would like to have.  AND I will have to decide on which one for a portrait!  AH!  I am so anxious to see what everyone says about them because they look amazing!  Here is one of my favorites for your viewing pleasure...lol!  Enjoy!

Wish I was scrapbooking...

So much for a Saturday to myself for scrapbooking!  I had all intentions of scrapbooking this weekend until I realized I have to have a first grade classroom ready in the next three weeks.   So this weekend and the next few weeks will be forfeited to my classroom and decor.  I have some posters I am working on this weekend.  I have slowly been working on them throughout the week so I should be able to finish them up this weekend and be able to start on more of my decor next week.

I am really excited about finally having my very own classroom!  I have been doing interims for so long I don't think I will really know what to do when everything in a room is MINE!  Oh how nice it will be...

Here is a photo of all my hard work in progress...
